Green Car Journal has announced the finalists for their Green SUV of the Year Award and we're excited to reveal the 2016 Honda HR-V is included on that list.Offering excellent fuel economy and low emissions, the compact SUV is one of the most eco-friendly options in its class. With this being said, the HR-V proves to be a perfect choice for Green Car Journal's prestigious accolade, which honors only the best "green" crossover on the market.

The all-new Honda HR-V comes equipped with a 1.8L four-cylinder engine that can be mated by either a six-speed manual transmission or a continuously variable transmission. All front-wheel drive models outfitted with the CVT are able to produce an EPA-estimated 28 city and 35 highway, while all-wheel drive models deliver 27 city and 32 highway. Front-wheel drive variants fitted with the six-speed manual also produce an ample 25 city and 34 highway.

"With class-leading fuel economy ratings and interior space, the Honda HR-V compact crossover is a great choice to replace larger, less fuel-efficient vehicles," said Jeff Conrad, Honda Division senior vice president and general manager. "The HR-V also fulfills the Honda brand's promise to deliver both fun-to-drive enjoyment with outstanding fuel efficiency."

The official winner of Green Car Journal's Green SUV of the Year Award will be announced on January 21, 2016. If you'd like to get a glimpse of the phenomenal HR-V and take it for a test drive, stop by Honda of Fort Worth today.
