During a recent announcement, Honda revealed that they would be unveiling a 10-speed automatic gearbox in the near future. The displacement will come outfitted in a variety of Honda models, benefiting their overall performance.

Keiji Ohtsu, Honda's chief officer for technology strategy, was the one to announce the company's plans to develop a 10-speed automatic gearbox. According to Ohtsu, the gearbox will work alongside models equipped with the 3.5L V6 engine, such as the current Odyssey. Created exclusively by Honda, the 10-speed automatic will be around the same size as the current six-speed transmission offered on these models; however, it will increase fuel economy by 6 percent, change gears 30 percent faster and improve acceleration by 14 percent. With each of these benefits, future models outfitted with the 10-speed automatic gearbox will deliver optimal performance that will make them top contenders in their individual segments.

Aside from the Honda Odyssey, it's not yet known what other models will receive the new 10-speed automatic. There’s also no telling when the transmission will arrive on upcoming cars in its lineup, but in the meantime you can check out the entire roster of brand-new 2016 Honda models at Honda of Fort Worth today.
