All-New 2019 Honda Insight Interior

In the market for a hybrid car? The production 2019 Honda Insight debuted at the New York Auto Show after a sneak peak was given of a prototype at the 2018 Detroit Auto Show. Deliveries are planned to begin in the summer of 2018. Loaded with technology, and with classy styling and a plush interior, the 2019 Honda Insight is worth a serious look for eco-conscious shoppers.

What is the Honda Insight?

Honda has released information about the forth-coming 2019 Insight, an all-new four-door, hybrid sedan model promising an impressive 55 mpg in the city and 50 combined. Honda fans may remember the Insight of years past, the first hybrid available in the United States, as a small, ultra-lightweight two-door hatchback. This entirely new design takes Honda’s hybrid offerings to the next level with luxurious interior accommodations, including all the latest tech toys.

Where is the Insight Built, and Which Features does it Include?

The Insight is entirely US-built and is based on the Civic design, but is much more than merely a hybrid Civic. The cabin is redesigned for comfort and significantly more plush. Available leather seating and hand-stitched trim accent a pleasant interior. Like all Hondas, the new Insight focuses on the experience of driving, and driving the Insight might make your pulse jump. What’s more, the Insight features many standard upgrades, including 16-inch alloy wheels, heated mirrors, and LED lighting. Touring models will get even more options with heated and power-adjustable leather seating, premium audio, a power sunroof, and 4G LTE hotspot connectivity. The available 8-inch high-resolution touchscreen features integration with Apple and Android devices and a 450-watt sound system.

Which Kind of Powertrain Drives this Car?

The Insight features Honda’s two-motor hybrid system which they call Intelligent Multi-Mode Drive, or i-MMD. This system features two electric motors and an Atkinson-cycle four-cylinder engine. Most of the time the car functions as an electric vehicle, with the engine running to generate electricity and charging the lithium-ion batteries for the motors. The engine is occasionally clutched to the transaxle for some highway conditions requiring maximum power and when running using the engine is most efficient. This setup allows for maximum responsiveness and excellent handling.

Is the Honda Insight Safe?

A full suite of the latest technology safety systems is also put in the new Insight. An automatic braking system applies the brakes when it senses an unavoidable collision. A small camera monitors road markers and alerts you if you are about to leave the road. Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) sets a following interval on the highway. Lane keeping assist helps you keep in the center of your lane should you begin changing lanes without signaling. And lastly, a camera monitors speed limit signs and tells the driver what the current speed limit is using an icon on the dashboard.
