What's New for the 2018 Honda Ridgeline?

Heading into the new model year, Honda has made some significant changes to the 2018 Honda Ridgeline lineup. Honda trimmed down the available trim packages by one by getting rid of the RTS package. They also re-configured the all-wheel drive options in the different trim packages. Honda added two new paint schemes to the 2018 Ridgelines while also adding two additional options to the Sports trim kit beyond black in white diamond pearl and lunar silver metallic colors. These exciting changes add to the already appealing Ridgeline trucks.

Major Trims and Features in the 2018 Honda Ridgeline

The 2018 Ridgeline trucks come available in six different trim packages. The base model is the RT trim package. The RT is a two-wheel drive truck that comes standard with halogen headlamps, in-bed trunk, LED taillights, trailer hitch, bed lighting and security system. On the interior, the RT package features push-button start, cruise control, tilt and telescoping steering wheel, rear-window defrost, rear heat ducts, 5-inch color LCD screen, 7-speaker sound system and Bluetooth connectivity.

The Sports trim package in the Ridgeline adds to the RT trim kit by offering an all-wheel-drive option, remote engine start, a 7-pin connector for towing, body-colored power side mirrors, fog lights, automatic climate control, HomeLink Remote System, exterior temperature indicator.

The RTL package builds the Ridgeline by further adding an acoustic windshield, leather-wrapped steering wheel, and 18" machine-finished alloy wheels while being available with all-wheel drive.

The RTL-T trim package boosts up from the RTL package by offering drivers a premium audio system, 8-inch audio display, connectivity with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, USB charging ports, compass, turn-by-turn navigation and the Honda Lane Watch safety feature.

The RTL-E trim package adds more goodies to the truck with standard intelligent variable torque management system and standard heavy-duty transmission cooler in the all-wheel-drive-only. The RTL-E adds many great Honda safety features like road departure and collision mitigations systems, collision warning and lane departure warning. Heated exterior mirrors with memory, rear power window, moonroof and ambient lighting in cab make the RTL-E shine. A truck bed audio system allows the drivers favorite music to be heard outside the truck as well as events or campsites.

Finally, the premier trim package on the 2018 Honda Ridgeline is the Black Edition. This truck features exclusive 18-inch black alloy wheels, LED bed lighting in addition to all the great features the RTL-E brings to the table. The Black Edition also features unique black exterior trim and black leather interior with red ambient LED lighting.

Engine, Transmission & MPG Specs

2018 Honda RidgelineAll 2018 Honda Ridgeline models come standard with a 3.5-liter V6 engine that put out 280 horsepower with 262 lb.-ft. of torque. In the all-wheel-drive models, the 2018 Ridgelines have a maximum towing capacity of 5,000 pounds, and the two-wheel drive models have a maximum capacity of 3,500 pounds. All 2018 Ridgelines also come standard with a 6-speed automatic transmission from Honda. The Ridgeline trucks boast 26 miles per gallon in fuel economy on the highway and 19 miles per gallon in the city.**

A collision mitigation braking system can sense an unavoidable collision and helps the vehicle begin braking before the driver can react. The road departure mitigation system utilizes a camera that detects lane markers and warns the driver if they are departing from their lane. The lane keeping assist system senses the vehicle swaying from the center of the road without signaling and adjust steering to bring the truck back to center. These great safety features have earned the 2018 Ridgeline a 5-star rating from the NHTSA.***
