What's New For The 2020 Honda Odyssey?

It's common for automakers to give their vehicles changes from one model year to the next. But in 2020, Honda has even more reason to pay special attention to the Odyssey. This year marks the 25th anniversary of the beloved minivan's debut. For the first time, a 10-speed automatic transmission comes standard, giving the Odyssey more power (and more nods of approval) than before. This year the Odyssey is also available with a special anniversary package that includes body side moldings, garnish on the lower doors, a rear bumper protector, illuminated sill plates, and a special anniversary-edition key fob. A chrome roof rack comes standard, while 19-inch wheels are available for an additional cost. Finally, a slight variation in trim color (specifically, to the White Pearl shade) completes the minivan's list of new and notable amenities. The minivan has repeatedly won awards as a "Best Buy" option, and this year appears to carry on that

Which Features are Available for 2020?

The 2020 Odyssey family includes six enticing trim levels. The base trim, the LX, gets a multi-angle backup camera as a standard safety feature. It has power-operated front seats and 18-inch alloy wheels. Automatic climate control, a seven-seat configuration, push-button start, and automatic climate control are standard. Next in line, the EX adds a more comprehensive safety package called Honda Sensing. It also has versatile second-row seats that have a slide, fold, and stow mechanism. A smart key entry system comes standard on this trim level and up. Heated front seats, an eight-inch infotainment system, and a tri-zone climate control system are standard.

The EX-L gets a touch of elegance and luxury with leather-trimmed seats and a power-operated tailgate. Two USB charging ports are included in the second row. A second entertainment system for the back row is available, as is an infotainment system with navigation. The Touring trim adds even more to the list of standard components with a WiFi hotspot and a hands-free power-controlled tailgate. The Touring trim also has a feature called CabinWatch, which is an intercom system that lets occupants in the first row communicate with people in the back. Finally, the Elite trim adds even more with an 11-speaker sound system, automatic rain-sensing wipers, and climate-controlled front seats that are heated and ventilated. A wireless phone charger comes standard, too.

How does the Odyssey Engine Balance Power Needs and Fuel Economy?

2020 Honda OdysseyIn 2020, the Honda Odyssey returns stronger and more powerful than ever. The mighty minivan gets a standard V6 engine this year with a 3.5L capacity. With this engine, the Odyssey produces a hefty 280 HP. The engine also features idle-stop technology that reduces fuel consumption while maximizing performance and efficiency. The Odyssey also comes with a 10-speed automatic transmission. Together, its power and drivetrain features put it a notch above the competition.

Affordable and Packed with Safety Features Galore

2020 Honda OdysseyA combination of standard and available safety amenities keep the driver and passengers protected in the 2020 Odyssey. Airbags and a fortified frame protect occupants in case of an impact. But other features are designed to stop an accident before it happens. Bundled into the Honda Sensing package, they include collision mitigation braking, lane-keep assist, road departure mitigation, and more.
