Honda Engine Not Working

Reasons Why Your Car Isn't Starting

Being able to start your vehicle is an essential part of getting where you need to be. Whether it's work, an event for your kids, or going shopping, it's beneficial if your engine is reliable. Unfortunately, there are a number of issues that can occur, which would result in your engine not being able to start up with ease each time you turn the key or press the ignition button. Here are some of the most common culprits.

Your Battery is Dead

Some vehicles alert you on your dashboard if your battery charge is low, but this isn't a common feature at the moment. You may have left something on which drained the battery, or there may be a parasitic drain on your battery. You may also be dealing with a battery that simply is too old to function properly.

Ignition Switch Problem

Let us check your ignition switch to see if it is communicating properly with your starter and engine. This will likely be the problem if you see your headlights turn on, the engine isn't starting, and you know that you have a full charge on your battery.

Starter Problems

Different connections can become damaged over time on your starter. This can cause your engine not to start up properly. A problem with your starter will be common if you cannot get your ignition to turn over the engine at all. Instead, a clicking noise is present.

Fuel Filter Replacement

Just like the HVAC system in your home, your fuel filter can become clogged over time. When this happens, there isn't an adequate flow of fuel to the engine. This would pose a problem that's similar to there not being any gas in your tank. You can expect your filter to need to be changed around the 20,000-mile point.

No Gas in the Gas Tank

You've neglected to fill your tank up this week, and all alerts from your vehicle have gone unnoticed. There's no fuel left in your tank, and your engine is not able to start up again. You can call for roadside assistance, or you can acquire some gas in a gas can to get yourself to the nearest station.
