What's New For the 2021 Honda HR-V?
Now in its sixth consecutive model year, the Honda HR-V has built a reputation for providing more-than-enough cargo versatility and outward visibility for its size as a subcompact crossover SUV. Apart from tinted rear glass now standard on the Sport trim, the Honda HR-V does not significantly change the 2021 model year.
2021 HR-V Has Abundant Features
The 2021 Honda HR-V is currently split into four trim levels: LX, Sport, EX, and EX-L. Designed as a two-row vehicle, this vehicle can seat up to five people, with the 60/40 split-folding rear seats enabling you to expand cargo space if needed. For entertainment, the HR-V combines a four-speaker 160-watt stereo system, Bluetooth wireless connectivity for hands-free phone calling and audio streaming, a USB port for connecting mobile devices, and a 5-inch color LCD screen.
As the racing-style variant, the Sport comes with exclusive sport-styled brake and gas pedals. Honda introduces a leather-wrapped steering wheel, a second USB port, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto for smartphone integration, HondaLink for wireless control of home features (such as garage doors and security systems), hands-free text messaging, and a 7-inch touchscreen (in place of the 5-inch LCD screen) at this trim level.
Although the EX loses the leather-wrapped steering wheel, it gains automatic climate control, front-seat heating, push-button engine start, two additional speakers, HD Radio digital tuning, and a trial subscription SiriusXM Radio. Only the EX-L offers leather-trimmed seats and an auto-dimming rearview mirror.

How Well Does the 2021 Car Perform?
With its drivetrain-which consists of a 141-horsepower 1.8-liter 4-cylinder engine, a continuously variable transmission, and front-wheel drive-the Honda HR-V peaks at 28 mpg in the city and 34 mpg on the highway. For maximum road grip, you can opt for an all-wheel drivetrain.
Packed With Safety Features
For driver assistance, the 2021 HR-V incorporates a rearview camera, cruise control, LED daytime running lights, and six airbags that provide crash protection. However, for more robust driver safety aid, spring for at least the EX, which includes Honda Sensing, a driver-assistance suite that consists of:
- Adaptive Cruise Control Â
- Lane-Keeping Assist System Â
- Forward Collision Warning Â
- Collision Mitigation Braking Â
- Road Departure Mitigation Â
- Lane Departure Warning
Also included at the EX trim level are auto-high beam technology and Honda's LaneWatch blind-spot monitoring system.
